No tuna if you're pregnant!

No tuna if you

You can add a few to the long list of 'prohibited' foods during your pregnancy. For example, doctors recommend not to eat tuna, mackerel, swordfish, eel, pike-perch or shark.

Even if these fish species come from a can, we advise you to ignore them for a moment until you have given birth. At first it was assumed that there was less mercury in canned tuna than fresh tuna, but this is not the case.

New insights
Predatory fish such as eel, mackerel and shark were already on the list of steer-clear foods. Salmon and sardines you can continue to eat because they are fish with healthy fats and low mercury levels.

Always consult your GP.
