Do you swing your child? Maybe think twice.
Who didn't do this? Together with your partner, hold your toddler's hand to swing him or her through the air. As a child, I found it amazing! I couldn't get enough and would crave a good swing all day!
It turns out, though, that it may be dangerous to swing your child through the air. It has to do with the fact that the joints of young children are not fully developed and that the connective tissue is looser than that in adults. Shoulders are far more easily dislocated at this age.
Some children are more sensitive than others, so do not feel guilty if something happens. It happens more often than you might think. In addition, once it has happened, the chance is that this will become a weak spot for your child.
To get a shoulder back in place takes medical professional help, so maybe think twice before swinging your child!
