21 ways you can help a new parent

Your good friend gave birth? Or maybe you have and you would like help but do not know how or what? With this list your friends, parents, acquaintances and colleagues should be able to get to work. (Tip: share this list très subtly on your Facebook page.)

Acquaintances & colleagues

  • Food and snacks
  • Make tea
  • Wash their own teacups
  • Play with other older children so that they do not feel left out
  • Hold the baby so that you can go to the bathroom, can take a shower, or sleep

Good friends & in-laws

  • Do the dishes
  • Empty the dishwasher
  • Switch on the sterilizer
  • Collect empty cups and plates in the house
  • Change a diaper
  • Sort the waste
  • Go to the store for (forgotten) baby stuff

Close family

  • Empty the potty
  • Do a load of laundry
  • Hang up the laundry
  • Clean the sterilizer
  • Clean up the freezer
  • Empty the garbage
  • Make the beds
  • Change the sheets
  • Vacuum upstairs

Have you received a lot of help? What did you think was the finest thing someone has done for you in the maternity period?
