Your pregnancy at 20 weeks
What's happening with mum
Congratulations, you are halfway through your pregnancy.
If you haven't already had your second trimester ultrasound it should be happening this week. This anomaly scan will allow your caregiver to determine how you baby is growing and check the health and position of the placenta.
Although your baby's genitals are still developing, it should be possibble during this ultrasound to determine whether your baby is a boy or a girl.
The average healthy weight gain for mothers to be during their total pregnancy is 25 to 35 pounds although this depends on starting BMI at the beginning of the pregnancy.
This halfway point is a good way to check how much you have gained so far and adjust your diet accordingly.
What's happening with baby
At this halfway point your baby should measure approximately 6.5 inches and weigh around 10.5 ounces.
During this week your baby's nails form and their permanent teeth will now be formed deep within their gums, behind their baby teeth.
Baby is becoming more himself with eyebrows appearing and hair starting to sprout on his head.
If you are 20 pregnant your due date is from Sunday, 14 April 2024 through Saturday, 20 April 2024.
