Your pregnancy at 17 weeks
What's happening with mum
As your skin stretches and thins to accomodate the bump you may find yourself prone to dryness and itchiness. It is a good idea to find a ph neutral moisturiser or body lotion to help avoid the scratching.
While your skin may dry out, you may find you have excess fluids in other areas which can be as a result of excess blood flow. You could sweat more, have excess musuc causing a constant runny nose and may even find you are experiencing an excess of vaginal discharge which is okay as long as it is clear and has no odour.
What's happening with baby
Baby is growing steadily and his heart is now beating at double the speed of yours, around 145 beats per minute.
He is continuing to practise movement, twisting and stretching his arms and legs as his spine straightens out.
He is also learning those important skills such as sucking and swallowing in order that he is ready to suckle as soon as he is born.
If you are 17 pregnant your due date is from Saturday, 27 June 2020 through Friday, 3 July 2020.
